Retro Computer Event

Mini quedada Retrobytes (Córdoba)

February 13, 2026 by Paul Bussey

Retrobytes Mini Meetup – Gadgets, Coffee, and Good Company

We’re organising a Retrobytes mini meetup in Córdoba, designed as a small, informal, and friendly gathering for people who enjoy retro computing at table level: tinkering, trying out hardware, chatting, and sharing experiences without rush or an “event” format.

There will be no talks or presentations.
The idea is simple: bring your gadget, console, microcomputer, a personal project, or just come along to look around and enjoy the atmosphere.

Find out more about the Retrobytes club in Cordoba here:- https://retrobytes.org/

📍 Location

LaZona Coworking
C. Secretario Carretero, 7
Poniente Sur, 14004 Córdoba
https://lazona.co/es

We’ll be using the meeting room, a modern, clean, and comfortable space with a small kitchenette for making coffee, ideal for this kind of relaxed meetup.

🗓 Date & Time

Wednesday, March 4tht
🕘 09:30 – 13:30

Afterwards, anyone who wishes can join us for lunch at the UCO cafeteria, just a 2-minute walk away.

🕹️ What to expect

  • Bring and try out retro hardware

  • Consoles, microcomputers, personal projects

  • Relaxed tinkering with no pressure

  • Conversation, stories, and shared learning

  • A friendly Retrobytes atmosphere

⚠️ Important

  • This is a free meetup

  • Space is limited: maximum 5 people with equipment

  • For that reason, it’s a small, close-knit gathering

  • If you sign up, please do try to attend so a space isn’t wasted 😊

🚗 Parking

There’s no parking directly outside the office.
The plan is to drop equipment at the door and then park nearby, which is usually quite manageable at that time of day.

This mini meetup is aimed especially at people who have weekday morning availability.

If you fancy sharing a table, some gadgets, and a coffee, you’re very welcome.

🔎 Jan 2025 Focus

Acorn’s Sandbox Gaming Legacy

Celebrate the open-world and exploratory games of Acorn computers, including classics like Elite, Exile, Citadel, Repton, and The Lords of Midnight (inspired by Acorn-era gaming – I will have a simple version of this running for the BBC Micro). These games were influential for their freedom of choice and creativity, laying the groundwork for modern sandbox gaming.

Bringing in non-Acorn machines? See if you can find an early sandbox-style game for your own machine.

Ways to Contribute:

  • Game Demos: Showcase these classics on your BBC Micro, Acorn Electron, or Archimedes.
  • Custom Content: Share custom levels, mods, or unique strategies for games like Repton or Exile.
  • Personal Stories: Talk about your experiences with these games and their impact.
  • Competitions: Organize friendly challenges on Elite or Repton for prizes.
  • Hardware & Swaps: Bring spare hardware, peripherals, or game disks to trade or sell.

💻 All Are Welcome:
While the event tends to be Acorn-centric, we could welcome enthusiasts of other retro machines as well. We’ve had Sinclair, Atari, Commodore, Altair etc.
